I have been truant in my posting. Family dinners, late night swims, smoky bonfire philsophies, afternoons filled sprinkled with Dutch and laughter, weak tea and strong coffee, early morning Brooke Gourmet--- Bacon piled so high it could be a seventh wonder!
Hercule Periot's famed belgium observation, academic fatalities,
sunburned backs, noses, chins
overturned ships that quickly rise again
Rigolotte's passion, sweet summer kisses,
and even sweeter summer, winter, fall, spring
love--- love lasts longer than petunias, stronger than any will:
Mother taming storms
father eating thunder
lovers catching lightening
brothers tearing waves
sisters beating wind
and music
the continuos interlude
permeating our daily bread breaking
wine tasting
weeks
of sun
these have all crowded into me, become my blood and eaten my time with gusto!
What a feast of days it has been!

volcanoes

Lately, I have been obsessed with volcanoes. I am filled with a great desire to leap onto the first plane to Hawaii, rent a boat, and sit out on the ocean, some yards away and watch, bobbing on night waves, a volcano spurt and bubble magma rivers.
I feel the urge to smell the sulfur and watch the magma trace, melt, down the mountain in glowing rivulets. I feel a part of me straining to send cries of triumph in the air as I watch victorious humility seep out of the skin-- even mountains melt.
